Confessions of an Apple Geek...
Hi, My name is Jose Arroyo and I am an Apple specialist. Long before my fingertips ever touched a Mac, I studied at Michigan State University where I graduated with a BA in special education and then followed it up with an MA a few years later. It was there in the heart of Michigan while I was an undergrad that I experienced my first Macintosh computer ever. I’m not only talking MY first Macintosh, but I ‘m talking THE first Macintosh. Yep, 1984 folks, that’s when the magic all began. I didn’t get to play with that Macintosh (or I mean work with it) back there in my college class, but once I became employed as full fledged teacher in 1987, I began immediately using a Mac and I have been using one ever since.
As the Macintosh computer evolved over the last 20 years, so have I. I have not only educated myself with the latest technology and the latest equipment, but I guess you could say, basically I have an apple life, if you will. Daily I use desktop computers, notebook computers, ipods, an apple TV, an iphone and a wireless home network to link them all together. I even got a part time job in addition to my teaching career at the Apple store, where I worked as a Mac specialist. Not only did my home and my work become permeated with Apple technology over the years, but also did my art. I fully converted from print photography to digital photography and my macbook pro has now become my darkroom. I guess you could say I live and breath Apple.
For as long as I can remember, it seemed that everywhere I would go, I would find myself helping people with Apple technology. Whether it was the school I was teaching at in desperate need of being saved from a network jam or whether it was friends in need of help setting up or troubleshooting their own personal Mac computers or ipods, I would receive comments over and over again, of praise for my assistance and knowledge. I do believe that my 20 years of teaching along with my 20 year long passion for Apple helps me to communicate and teach people what they need to know about the technology and the products of Apple.
In a world where IT specialists seem to focus on PC’s and where many internet providers find themselves inexperienced with apple technology, I am here to say…there’s no need to worry, I’m your apple specialist and I am here to help. After all, I don’t see my services as merely as a job, but as an opportunity to share my passion with those who have dared to think different. Hopefully that’s you!
